Dear Club Rep
I've just had notification from Mansfield Harriers that their course is currently unsafe for competition, due to icing and waterlogging. There are also problems with standing snow and ice in the car parking areas. To hold the event in these conditions would compromise public liability insurance.
They were planning to conduct a further inspection of the course on Thursday. However, if the situation remained unchanged at that point, it might be too late to notify all of the clubs involved.
Therefore, a decision has been made to postpone the final BDL cross-country fixture until Sunday 1st March (race start: 11.00am).
There are two potential problems with this: a) It gives no time to arrange entry to the final. (However, no clubs entered the final last year and frankly, I don't even know if Dave Mann has organised one for 2009; b) It takes us very close to our next meeting scheduled for Monday 3rd March. (This can be postponed if Paul needs time to process the results.)
If you foresee any further problems with this new arrangement, please let me know as soon as possible - bearing in mind that communication at short notice is difficult.
If there are no issues, I will confirm the new arrangement before the end of the week.
Best wishes
Rob Bailey
